Under The Rockies is a website founded by two feminists. We’ve always made sure UTR has maintained it’s reputation of being a safe space, refusing content we consider is ableist, homophobic, sexist and racist.

We try to keep track of all the neat and unique events that take place in Calgary. This week, we've noticed an abundance of women-friendly events that we believe should be shared. Check them out and help make Calgary a more women-friendly city!

The Pinkprint Tour

Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint Tour will be hitting the Scotiabank Saddledome Tuesday, August 18.

Minaj has been vocal on women's issues and a supporter of education. She's spoken out on double standards in the entertainment industry, slut shaming and the importance of education, as well as many other important topics.

When she's not touring or speaking out on important issues, she's probably hanging out with her feminist BFF, Beyoncé.

The tour is in support of Minaj's latest album, The Pinkprint, and will also feature appearances from Meek Mill, Rae Sremmurd, Tinashe and Dej Loaf. You can find tickets here.

Stitching Pads in Calgary

Winnipeg's Cockroach zine will is touring,  selling cloth pad-making kits to raise money for a local shelter. The event takes place Wednesday, August 19 at Central Memorial Park from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. You can find out more here.

Cockroach is a feminist/environmentalist zine whose name is inspired by, yes, the bug. The cockroach is believed to be the only creature that has the capability to survive a nuclear attack. The bugs are survivors, just like the feminist and environmentalist movement. You can subscribe to Cockroach here.

WSKEO was inspired by the above Ted Talk, "We Should Know Each Other", inviting people to stretch their social circles and enhance their thinking with a "diversity of new ideas and new perspectives".

The She Show

The She Show is an art show curated to celebrated Calgary women in the arts. The event takes place Saturday, August 22 at the Arche Loft from 8:00pm to 1:00am. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Women's Centre of Calgary. You can find out more about the event here.
